Crafted in Jaipur
A heritage you can feel
Brahma Tejas is a small atelier devoted to the centuries-old craft of Indian hand-block printing — bedsheets, curtains and apparel pressed motif by motif onto 100% pure cotton.
The craft of the block
Every Brahma Tejas piece begins with a hand-carved teak block and a vat of fast, natural colour. In the printing villages around Jaipur — Bagru and Sanganer — artisans align each block by eye and press it onto the cloth, repeat after repeat, until a whole length of cotton carries a single flowing pattern. It is slow, exacting work; a single bedsheet can take a full day of printing alone.
Three living traditions
- Sanganeri — fine, delicate floral motifs printed on a creamy ivory ground, the signature of the Sanganer printers.
- Bagru — earthy, geometric prints in indigo, madder red and black, built up with mud-resist (dabu) and natural dyes.
- Ajrakh — the deep indigo-and-crimson resist printing of Kutch, layered through many rounds of dyeing and washing.
Pure cotton, fast colour
We print only on 100% pure cotton — breathable, soft and made to be lived with for years. Our colours are fixed to last wash after wash. Because the dye is natural and the printing is done by hand, a gentle bleed of colour in the first wash and tiny irregularities in the print are not flaws — they are the fingerprint of a piece made by a person, not a machine.
The artisans
Behind every order is a family of block-cutters, printers and dyers carrying a skill passed down through generations. By buying directly from them and selling directly to you, we keep this craft alive and put a fair share of every sale back into the hands that made it.
